Today there is a window of opportunity to brand and establish Canada as the world leader in new media. With the worldwide new media market expected to grow from $28.5 Billion to $65 Billion by 2010, there is an enormous opportunity to ensure that Canada becomes known as the best place in the world to produce and develop new media products. We face aggressive competition from other countries, but if we work together strategically, Canada can own this leadership position.
The objective is to ensure that every new media company in Canada is fully ready to compete in the global marketplace, and that our country becomes known as a world leader in this sector. By aligning training and innovation programs with commercialization and trade strategies, we can lead the world in this market. To do this, we need a national strategy and knowledge hub to serve as the focal point for the sector. |

We’re already well on the way to making this happen. By leveraging the new Masters in Digital Media program at Great Northern Way campus in Vancouver, we can capitalize on a significant investment already in place.

The new media industry is knowledge based and evergreen, representing a valuable work opportunity for young Canadians, and a competitive edge for Canada well into the future. Positioning Canada as a world leader in new media is a legacy that will benefit all Canadians. |
