October 26, 2008 10:30 am
Main Classroom, Centre for Digital Media, Great Northern Way Campus, 577 Great Northern Way, Vancouver
Digg, Del.icio.us, RSS, Twitter, StumbleUpon...the list of emerging Web 2.0 or "social media" tools is ever-lengthening. What are they? How do they work? How are people using them? The world of social media and user-generated content changes on a month-to-month basis. It's critical for marketers and content creators to keep abreast of what's new, what's dead and what matters.
This workshop will introduce attendees to the latest social media channels, and demonstrate how they can be used in their marketing activities. The session will feature plenty of real-world examples and hands-on training, and attendees will leave with tactics they can immediately apply to their marketing challenges.
Darren is a writer, marketer and technologist. He's spent the last decade working for software companies in Canada and Europe. He regularly speaks about marketing and Web 2.0 at events like Les Blogs, Blog Business Summit and Northern Voice and for associations like the STC, HTCE and eBusiness Connection. Before starting Capulet, he spent two years in Dublin, Ireland as a technology evangelist for Cape Clear Software. Previously, Darren was Manager of Technical Communication at MPS, and has consulted for EA Sports, Radical Entertainment and sundry start-ups in Canada and Ireland.
